PORTUGAL - SPORT ONSIGHT SPORT - SINTRA
POSITION: A giant granite slab with a separate tower that sits on top of the hill overlooking Sintra, a very popular and picturesque town to the west of Lisbon.
Main slab - Opposite. This is classic slab climbing at its best, a 45 meter high lump of perfect granite, giving splendid climbs that have all been recently re-equipped with stainless steel bolts - at very sensible intervals. Some of the harder slab routes demand invisible holds, but the easier options are tremendous fun and quite pleasant excursions.
Amizade Buttress - This is a large vertical lump that you abseil into with a long rope - 40m. Vertical and problematic routes and full on intimidating shade. Access: Our guidebook shows green gates that are sometimes locked to prevent access. The footpath from the road goes all the way along the top of the ridge to the castle on top, before this you can drop down to the top of the cliff and abseil in.
