OVERVIEW

There are no particularly famous cliffs in the Jura, but there is some really good climbing to be found. The most popular venue to stay is the Ornans valley on the river Loue. There are no shortage of excellent cliffs such as Roche Barmaud, Breme, with the high grade attractions of Saint Germain, Baume et Syrtau and Rurey. The rock around Saint Claude is less than perfect, so we have been careful with cliff selection here, but Mont Robert and Crenans near Moirans-en-Montagne are a defintie must visit. The river Ain flows from this area, lots of lovely lakes, and make sure not to miss Jarbonnet - an engaging place, both with views and for the climbing.
