GORGES DE LA NESQUE

This is an area beneath the South East side of Mont Ventoux. The gorge itself - for those from the UK is massive, but diddy after you have climbed at the Gorges du Verdon. The drop of the whole gorge is some 300m and looks awesome.

The big cliffs are on the South side and cannot be reached practically - plus the rock is the yellowy sort that is soggy and offers very poor climbing since it is usually blank.

On the North side where the road is - there are 5 separate cliffs. We include the topos for 3 of these in our guidebook, plus details of access for the others.

All the cliffs are at 700m altitude, so feel a lot cooler that the lower cliffs in the area. There is a very good selection of routes from 5a up to 7c, with 6b-7a perhaps being the best operating grades.

I would not recommend trying to find the cliffs without our guidebook - you are likeley to get very lost and frustrated.
