FRANCHARD - CUISINIERE
This is the big area for hard climbing in the Font 6b and upwards. It is situated under grand pine trees and always looks green. The trees are bizarre, becaue they also keep the area very dry, and the green lichen is not actually on the holds or the important parts of the rock. We include 2 circuits from this area. It is quiet and mystic.
FRANCHARD ISATIS
This is the best shady outcrop in the forest, and everyone knows it - so on a hot Sunday it will be packed out, also on hot evenings when everyone finishes work. The trees that shade this area are birch, so you do get a lot of drip-drip. Many classic hard problems as well as many easy ones. Is polished in parts but doesn't seem to detract.
FRANCHARD HAUTES PLAINES
There are two other areas to visit, this and Sablons, and are much better suited to low grade bouldering. You should not miss these superb areas, both are covered in our book.
