Bourgogone onsight - Topo Guide VERGISSON A cliff with a wow view and a real exposure factor. Some of the rock is desperate, but at other times it is perfect and brilliant. Climb with a reasonable amount of caution. Nearly all of the routes have 1 star classic status, they really are that good; it is just lacking more of the really high quality routes that some of the other cliffs to the north have. You are in really excellent wine growing area here, a good tip is to try out the Saint Véran in the local village, it is a lot softer than the fuming pussy wine, and has a really lovely delicate flavour. Also don't miss the evening view of Mont Blanc from the walk down to the car in the evening. If the sun is setting, it is one of the moments of visionary splendour - well apart from the wine being uncorked. Summary: 60 routes across the grades 3-8a, but very good in 6a/b area; up to 30m high. Photo: BISON FUTÉ 5b; Climber: David Atchison-Jones. |
